Yesterday, I was honored with the award for Best New Designer in Ontario.

Even writing those words feels surreal.

What started as a quiet decision to follow a passion has turned into a path I could’ve never fully imagined. A fresh start, a lot of unknowns—but I kept walking. Slowly, step by step, fueled by love for what I do and the belief that I could create something meaningful.

This award isn’t just a professional recognition. It’s a reminder of how powerful it is to believe in new beginnings. Of what can happen when you choose to listen to your passion, even when it seems impossible.

To every woman out there wondering if it’s too late, if she’s too tired, too scared, or too broken—please know that it’s never too late to start again. To rebuild. To rise.

Four years. A whole journey packed into those two words.

I started this degree while pregnant with Hanna, in a new country, with no help around. After many years of studying, collecting diplomas, and building a new path from scratch, I decided it was time to take my specialization to the next level. I wanted more—not just for me, but for my future, my family, and the profession I love.

Starting over in my thirties, in a completely different country, wasn’t easy. But I had one person who never let me give up—my husband. He was the first to believe in me when I said I wanted to change careers. He pushed me, supported me, took care of the girls so I could study on weekends, late nights, early mornings. His support has been everything.

There were many sacrifices—weekends away from my family, nights filled with study instead of rest, and moments of deep doubt. But I kept going, step by step. And today, I can proudly say: I made it.

What makes this moment even more special is looking back and realizing how far I’ve come. From sketching design ideas at my kitchen table to building a career I truly love—this journey has been nothing short of transformative.

I’m endlessly grateful to this country that welcomed me and gave me the space to grow, learn, and thrive. And to my daughters—thank you for your patience, your love, and for being my reason to keep going. One day, I hope you’ll understand why mommy worked so hard.

This graduation is not just a milestone. It’s a celebration of resilience, love, and the power of starting over.

Material selection played a pivotal role in bringing Voyance to life, ensuring both elegance and durability. The kitchen features dark-stained rift-cut white oak cabinetry on the island, contrasted by Cambria quartz countertops that provide both sophistication and resilience. A handcrafted zellige tile backsplash adds artisanal charm, while Benjamin Moore’s Wind’s Breath on the surrounding cabinetry creates a serene, neutral foundation. The custom metal range hood introduces an industrial statement, harmonizing with sleek metal shelving. Hidden storage solutions fulfill the client’s request for organization, while a wine cellar tucked at the back of the island offers a refined space for their collection. ✨ Before & After: Project Voyance ✨

This project originally began as Project Hester, but as the design evolved, it only felt right to rename it Project Voyance. This name reflects the essence of my amazing clients: lovers of life who capture stunning travel photos and embrace the beauty of every moment. Honestly, they could run their own travel agency, and you’d be hooked on their adventures!

The journey for this transformation was special. My client was deeply attached to her original kitchen but wanted a fresh, elegant take on its industrial charm. She envisioned incorporating metal finishes while elevating the space with a sophisticated and timeless design.

The result? A striking metal hood that became the centerpiece of the kitchen—a true wow factor. We balanced industrial and transitional styles by introducing a dark-stained rift-cut white oak island, paired with a blend of metals for that industrial edge. The soft, handcrafted zellige tile backsplash adds warmth and texture, ensuring the space feels inviting rather than overly contemporary.

This kitchen tells a story—of personality, functionality, and the perfect fusion of my clients’ love for style and adventure. 🖤
